Objects & SubjectsAbout & In Psychoanalysis
|
HistoryTo begin with, we intended a site about jewels and gems... objects with a subjective value. Natural evolution brought us in contact with subjective interpretations of mental objects such as dreams and symptoms, and then it was only a small step to reach the realm of relationships. Subjects interacting in a medium of objects. Psychoanalysis binds everything together. The Object/Subject Problem.Me, being a person or subject, am surrounded by a world of objects, which I can observe and interact with. The I is there, somewhere in the vicinity of my body; it feels as if I had/ware a spirit, seat of consciousness. Is there in fact a material body having a soul, a mind/body of body/mind, just a physical body with a mind-like side effect, or is there a mind inventing/dreaming reality? Can I be conscious of my own consciousness (subject becoming object of subject), and if so, is it possible to organize my life more meaningful for myself, both as an individual and as a member of society? What with me being the subject while you are my object and vice versa? The Object/Subject problem so becomes a good basis for psychotherapy. Site Evolution. The thing as such grew for a long time yet, with a small interruption of some years owing to unexpected circumstances, and is ready now to be used as a model for the way memory functions: get a piece of information from the outside world, compare it with what already happened in the past and was filed in memory, and make a new backup after tiny modifications, induced by the actual experience, has been applied. The same holds for the site at hand: discovering new situations, compare interpretations of them with what was filed in the past (history), and upgrade the archives. I think dreaming might be compared with off-line processing of new information. |
